About Cotswold Canals Connected

The Cotswold Canal Connected Project marks the next exciting phase of canal restoration for the Cotswolds. Linking the Stroudwater Navigation Canal with the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal at Saul Junction, we will join our communities with the rest of the UK’s canal network. After 78 years, boats will once again be able to travel along the Chalford Valley creating new and exciting opportunities for linking our towns and villages, opening up new business opportunities and creating a vibrant tourist destination in the heart of the Cotswolds.

A new wildlife corridor with community-led conservation and biodiversity projects will weave together our rich cultural heritage including wool and water festivals, canal boat trips, canoeing, paddle-boarding and natural history walks. This project gives us the fantastic opportunity to unlock our amazing canal archive to celebrate our local culture heritage and make it accessible to everyone.
