This is a flat walk except for steps at the railway station bridge. The walk continues along the path beside the railway to join the Cotswold Way and down to the canal at Ryeford, returning along the canal and through St. Cyr’s churchyard.

Distance 2 miles. Duration 1-1.5miles. Graded easy.

Canal Story Walks

Meet in the bar just before 3 pm. The walk is free and is suitable for all ages. A further walk will start just before 4.30 pm.

Nicer on the water

Take your pick for a taste of floating on the water – SUP Stroud, Stroud Valley Canoe Club, Boatmobility and Cotswold Canal Trust day trip boat all converge at Ryeford for the day for everyone to have a go. Live music all day. Bring a picnic, a towel, friends and family. Walk west along the canal from Stroud and east from Stonehouse. Accessible location and boating. Canal Trail

Saturday 4 – Sunday 5 May
11.00am – 4.00pm

A free day out for everyone on the canal between Stroud and Stonehouse. Join the trail at Stroud Train Station Community Hub (Cheapside), pick up a map to find storytellers, canal characters, boating, local history and wildlife buffs, art and fun activities all the way to Stonehouse. Bring a picnic or enjoy local food stalls along the way! Jump on the train to get there and back from Stonehouse to Stroud.
