Boat Landing Stages, Piling and Bank Renovation – CCT
Join the team enhancing and improving the canal banks and building canal access landing stages on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Maintenance – CCT Eastern Depot (near Cirencester)
Join the teams doing maintenance and logging at Eysey Depot (near Cirencester) and the maintenance and towpath work parties on the Canal sections from Lechlade to Coates (Summit). Different groups work on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and occasional Sundays.
Maintenance – CCT Western Depot (Eastington)
Join the team doing equipment maintenance at Eastington on Mondays and Wednesdays (soon to be expanded) including: lock rebuilding, towpath and bridge maintenance and tree removal. Our workshops support boat fitting, painting, minor repairs, rebuilding engines, welding, other engineering and mechanical tasks.
Trip Boats at Ebley, Saul and Lechlade – CCT
Help provide public trips at weekends and charter trips weekdays raising vital funds and maintaining contact with the public.
Workboats – CCT
Join the teams operating mainly on Mondays and Wednesdays the tugs, dredgers, canal weed removal and bank maintenance together with a fleet of other vessels restoring the canal.
Working With Nature – Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust
Get involved with building bird boxes, creating kingfisher banks, conducting wildlife surveys, managing trees and hedgerows and more. Join a monthly Saturday work party restoring a traditional orchard in Whitminster with more work parties on different days due to start soon.
Maintenance and Construction – Stroud District Council
Join the team working on the Brimscombe to Saul sections on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Various activities including lock restoration, towpath construction, grass cutting, hedge trimming, tree management etc.
Lock Keepers and Lengths People – Stroud Valleys Canal Company
Working in pairs, fortnightly at times to suit. Lock Keepers maintain their lock and the surroundings and report any issues. Lengths People walk their 1km length collecting litter, marking dog mess and reporting any concerns.
Visitor Centres at Saul, Wallbridge and Bond’s Mill – CCT
Staffing the CCT Visitor Centres both weekdays and weekends throughout the year.
The Bookshop at Brimscombe – CCT
Help to run the CCT used bookshop on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays ; cataloguing, organising and selling books, records, jigsaws and more.
Administration, Fundraising and IT Support – CCT
Support the team that runs the Trust Office and the fundraising team during weekdays that prepares promotional material, grant applications & letters and meet potential donors. Help also with building and maintaining IT systems for Trust administration.
Stroudwater History Archives – Stroudwater Navigation Archive Charity
Get involved at any times that suit, maintaining and updating the archives, recording the verbatim text of minutes and letters, writing stories based on material available in the archives and helping to develop outreach material.
