Congratulations & thank you to Russell Warner, founder and owner of Westend Office Suites who was the first sponsor to ‘plant’ a commemorative bollard on the Stroudwater Navigation Canal at Blunder Lock.
Russell Warner, who returned to Stroud after a career travelling the world working in international business, said:
“It’s fantastic to be involved in this community project and great to be able to contribute something that will have a lasting impact for generations at the same time as promoting Westend Office Suites. I’m looking forward to seeing the progress of the canal restoration especially knowing that my company’s sponsorship of this bollard has helped a little on the way.“
I fully recommend that other companies take up this unique opportunity to support and be part of the future of the Stroud Valleys industrial heartland. It’s amazing what the volunteers of the Cotswold Canals Restoration have achieved for this area and sponsorship by companies is an excellent way we can show our support!”
Westend Office Suites is located near the Stroudwater Navigation Canal and has already agreed to sponsor a second bollard as part of the charity’s fundraising.
Today the first of two Westend Office Suite’s bollards was installed; the second will be placed at Pike Lock in 2022.
Both locations are in Eastington and approximately a mile from Westend Office Suites.
Cotswold Canals Trust is raising funds for the restoration of the Stroudwater Navigation Canal by offering local companies the unique opportunity to cast their names in mooring bollards along the 4.5 mile canal corridor.
Peter Asquith, Volunteer Engineer and Fundraiser said:
“We are really pleased that Russell is able to join us today. He is the first of our sponsors to install his commemorative bollard. Other companies have also recognised the benefit of supporting us through sponsoring a bollard and we will shortly be installing bollards sponsored by ABB and Rollercoaster Records Ltd amongst others.
“If you or your company fancy adding your name to a bespoke mooring bollard, please get in touch with the charity on mail@cotswoldcanals.org”
The Stroud valleys continue to prosper from the numerous and varied successful industries which together continue to build on our rich legacy of industrial heritage.
To celebrate this, the Cotswold Canals Trust has created a celebratory heritage mooring bollard, which anyone can sponsor. There are more than 100 to choose form and they can be personalised with any short message.
